French Polynesia's mobile network has evolved significantly over the years. Initially, in 1995, there were only 4,000 mobile cellular subscriptions. By 2019, the number of mobile connections had increased, with about 43% using 3G networks and 12% using LTE. By 2025, LTE is expected to account for more than half of all connections, and it is estimated that 77% of mobile subscribers will have smartphones by that year.
